IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics)
is the standard drive interface in a computer.
Unlike a SCSI bus the IDE bus is 16bit standard
and offers one channel for communication between
the storage device and the rest of the computer.

SCSI is a multi-threaded I/O interface: it
can process multiple I/O requests simultaneously.
This allows multiple devices to process requests
simultaneously, providing an effective way
to overlap the mechanical drive delays required
in locating data.
