Product Overview
The RS3160 is a multiple host SCSI/Fibre-to-IDE RAID subsystem that delivers. With a streamlined 64-bit hardware architecture, the RS3160 offers a cost effective yet powerful solution that gives users a high capacity, and fault tolerant storage solution. The RS3160 can be configured to RAID levels 0, 1 (0+1), 3, or 5. A dual independent PCI bus design efficiently extends the available bandwidth, making it the ideal choice for users interested in capacity without the added expense of a powerhouse system.

Professional Features and Performance
The RS3160 is available in dual channel SCSI-to-IDE or Fibre-to-IDE configurations. The RS3160 has a 64-bit, Intel i80303 processor and is built around a dual bus architecture with a dedicated data engine that includes 128MB of cache (upgradeable to 512 MB). With support of up to 16 ATA drives , the RS3160 is the choice for users interested in total storage capacity versus cost and performance.

High Data Availability
The RS3160 offers multiple RAID level settings including levels 0, 1 (0+1), 3, and 5. Automatic drive failure detection, automatic drive rebuild, hot spare and background rebuild, disk hot swap, and online background rebuild make it possible for users to retrieve and write data at all times. The RS3160 also give users the piece of mind that they will never lose data due to bad blocks. If bad blocks are encountered during the data rebuild process, LBA ( Logical Block Addressing ) will be initiated and the rebuild process will continue with unaffected sectors. Also featuring Dynamic On-line RAID Expansion, additional capacity can easily be added without system downtime.

Storage Management
The RS3160 can be completely configured in minutes using the front LCD control panel, or through VT100 terminal emulation. As a benefit the RS3160 offers an optional Java-based GUI RAID management software for Windows which facilitates local and remote system management.

Controls and Indicators
Featuring a front LCD control panel for setup and configuration - when a device fails, a built-in alarm will sound and failure indication will be shown on the panel. Drive LED indicators include power, busy, and attention.
